The content of this document is not as accurate as it might be! It refers to “Brighaf” as “probably” by John Allan when the architect’s name is carved in stone on the front of the building above the main entrance. Additionally the Council’s own Archives have the original Dean of Guild Drawings for the building (reproduced within this website) in the man’s own hand. It also describes Bridgehaugh Cottage as a “traditional single storey cottage” when in fact it is definitely neither “traditional” nor a “cottage” and consists of a two storey villa with the lower storey beneath street level.
In reference to the Basilisks on the pillars at Wallace Place Park the document indicates that the words “Wallace” and “Place” are inscribed on the coping stones when the word “Place” is demonstrably absent!
