Stevenson Bridge

So much is said and posted about the Category A listed 500 year old “Old Bridge” that no one tends to think about the other one! It is called the Stevenson Bridge. It is listed Category B by Historic Environment Scotland and is referred to on their website as “Stirling New Bridge”.

The design of the bridge was carried out by Robert Stevenson 1772-1850 in 1829. The Contractor, Kenneth Mathieson constructed the bridge which was completed and opened to vehicular traffic in 1832.

Historic Environment Scotland describe the Bridge as “5 segmental Arches, bull faced ashlar.
