The development of the part of Cornton known as Westhaugh, to the West of Cornton Road in the lands of what was Westhaugh Farm, (worth looking at Liam’s story in “Living in Cornton”) was initiated by the Developer A.L. King. The original application for development of the site was made in the mid 1990s. It adopted the name “Strathallan Park” in the process.
In the 1940 Valuation Roll the farm itself is listed as being owned by James McLaren, Farmer and occupied by James and Andrea McLaren, Farmers.
In 2007 A.L. King was acquired by another developer – Stewart Milne Homes.
Subsequently Stewart Milne Homes went on to sell parts of the site to other developers who included Forth Housing Association, Taylor Woodrow, and Persimmon Homes.

The earliest parts of the development were carried out immediately after the turn of the Millennium. All in all some 300 dwellings were built with the inclusion of a Care Home – Wallace View.
The development was completed around 2010 but then the residents had a running battle with the developer over the maintenance of the Play Area which had been established in 2011 under the terms of a “Section 75 agreement” between Stewart Milne Homes and Stirling Council.
An agreement made under Section 75 of the 1997 Planning Act is, it should be noted, a voluntary agreement between the landowner and the Council. The purpose of the planning agreement is to permanently restrict or regulate the use of the land affected by the planning permission.
In November 2024 Stewart Milne Homes was “Dissolved” having been in business since July 1978 and the residents continued to pursue Stirling Council as the remaining partner of the Section 75 relating to the Play Area.

In 2026 The City of Stirling agreed to take on the responsibilty of maintenance of the Play Area and the Football pitch.
