ForthPark & Vale Grove

The earliest part of this particular development of Cornton are the five dwellings on the right hand side as you enter Forth Park. These were built around 1958 along with the Pig Industry Development Station.

The remainder of the development happened some time later. There was a Planning application (94/00216/DET) approved in January 1995 for the erection of 40 no. detached houses, 32 no. semi-detached houses and 8 no. terraced houses. The address given for the location of the proposal was “Forth Park, Cornton Railway Crossing, Cornton Road, Bridge of Allan, Stirling”

It would appear that the residents of Forth Park and Vale Grove successfully lobbied the relevant authorities to have the area recognised with a postal address of “Bridge of Allan”.

It’s inclusion here simply reflects it’s geographic situation of being west of the railway line and east of the river. Ergo Cornton!
